These awards aim to recognise those who have made significant contributions to the field of Utility Vegetation Management over the past year. There are four award categories as detailed below that you may nominate people for. A fifth category called Lifetime Contribution may also be awarded, however, this is not an open nomination and will be determined solely by the UAAA Award Committee.
If you would like to nominate more than one person, please complete a separate nomination form for each person. All nominations must be submitted by 12 noon Sunday 9 February 2025 and winners will be announced at the 2025 Arboriculture Australia Conference in Canberra.
Utility Vegetation Management (UVM) Award – Presented to a utility employee who has made a significant contribution to the field of utility vegetation management over the past calendar year
Criteria:
- Employed in the Utility industry for a majority of the prior 12 months; and
- Demonstrates a pursuit of the UAAA Strategic Plan Goals and delivers a number of the Key Objectives such as:
- Operational excellence
- Environmental sustainability
- Public and employee safety
- Innovation
- Industry influence
- Strategy
Safety Leadership Award – Is awarded to a person who influences and promotes a safety culture at every turn
Criteria:
- Employed in the Utility Arboriculture industry for a majority of the prior 12 months; and
- Demonstrates a pursuit of the UAAA Strategic Plan “Goal 1. Enhance safety within Utility vegetation management activities” and delivery of Key Objectives
- Demonstrates a significant influence for safety outcomes in the Utility Arboriculture industry as a result of a specific project / program / promotion
- Demonstrates a passion for addressing safety issues and implementing improvement opportunities
Rising Star Award – Awarded to an individual who is relatively early in their career yet has already shown leadership within the Utility Arboriculture industry
Criteria:
- Employed in the Utility Arboriculture industry for a majority of the prior 12 months but less than 3 years; and
- Demonstrates a good understanding of the issues facing the Utility Arboriculture industry
- Demonstrates their leadership by their commitment and contribution to an improvement project / program / promotion activity
- Leads by example
Training & Education Award – Recognises an individual who has added to the knowledge and practices of the Utility Arborist
Criteria:
- Has worked in the Utility Arboriculture industry for a majority of the prior 12 months; and
- Provides a significant amount of time and effort to the development of Utility Arboriculture employees, e.g., through the development of literature, training, coaching & mentoring.
- Actively promotes and implements improvements to training and education for the Utility Arboriculture industry
Community Service Award – Recognises and individual who has gone above and beyond during their work to assist a member or members of the public positively.
Criteria:
- Employed in the Utility Arboriculture industry for a majority of the prior 12 months; and
- Demonstrates a significant focus for public safety outcomes in the Utility Arboriculture industry
- Gone above and beyond during their work to assist a member or members of the public in a positive manner
